New Reviews: Three of them March 11, 2006 (1:55 AM) ( link ) ADDED reviews of Ian McDonald's Terminal Cafe, Jane Smiley's A Thousand Acres, and Peter Carey's Jack Maggs.
Sorry that it's been a while. Work has been fairly busy, and I've taken up a few other hobbies besides these web pages when I get off work.
Reading has been going slowly this year. Right now, I'm only a few pages away from the end of Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander, the first entry in his famous Aubrey-Maturin series. It's a little slow, but I hear it gets better. (I mean, there has to be a reason that millions of people adore those books.) After that, I'm going to try another Peter Carey novel, The True History of the Kelly Gang, even though I was somewhat less than thrilled with Jack Maggs.
I've also joined a book club composed of various clerks in the building. So far we've read Gilead (by Marilynne Robinson) and The Book of Daniel (by E.L. Doctorow), and I'll post reviews of those at some point.
